Handy tips for you and your chickadee's |
|
Scheduling a session time: Depending on the age of your child or children, the time of day you schedule your session will be very important. When does your child normally take a nap? When is their snack or meal time? Are they normally happier earlier in the day, or mid-afternoon? These are all things to think about when you call to book a session. Picking the best time of day for your child will provide the most cooperation on their part, and will allow us to capture the best of their personality! Clothing: So, what should your child wear to the session? Think simplicity. Solids are always great. They won't distract like some prints will. We want to focus on your child, because they are the most important part of the photo. Solids and simple patterns will also remain classic, so you won't get those "dated" photos after a few years. Jeans and a white tee shirt are always a good choice. Bib overalls are also great, as long as your child is old enough to sit up on their own. Overalls on babies tend to overwhelm them, and they cover their face when they are positioned in a poser. If you do have a special outfit you would like to have your child's photo taken in, you can certainly bring it along. You are allowed a clothing change, so feel free to bring something else. Then you will have more of a variety to choose from! Props: We always welcome you to bring in any items that are special to you or your child. A favorite blanket, a stuffed animal or toy they take everywhere, maybe something pertaining to a hobby, like if they take dance classes or have a collection of some sort. Not only will this give the photos more of a personal touch, it will also make the child more comfortable, which will show in the photos. And my last tip for a great photo session: Relax! We have taken many photos with many different kids and personalities, and we are prepared for anything. If your child is not sitting perfectly still, it's ok. Children are active, and we will capture that in the photos. We want your child's photo to look natural, so letting them be who they are is key. If you seem uncomfortable with the situation, then your child will pick up on that. So, don't worry, mom and dad. Your little angels are in good hands, so just relax and enjoy capturing these memories. |
