Minot Bands Together 2011

April 30, 2011 at Dae Udder Place, Minot

Thank You…!!!!

There are so many people to thank, this will definitely be a long post. First, let’s just say that everyone who either attended, donated, talked about the event, performed, anyone who sent good karma our way…. THANK YOU!!  That covers everybody.

But let’s get more specific… in no particular order.

Dae Udder Place – You have hosted our event for 4 years now, we couldn’t do it without you.

WGO & The ZOO – OMG, you are incredible. Every time we needed a little change or tweak to the ad, you were there, the jockeys talking about it on air and Kim’s appearances on the morning shows… You all care, and we thank you for that!!

The Landing Bar & Bottleshop – Chuck, words cannot express… You and your staff are awesome, giving and caring. Thank you!!! Big donation here!!!

American Foundation for Wildlife – gaming at the Landing, and huge donation here!!  Seriously, there were tears here!!

Minot Hockey Boosters Gaming – The huge donation was awesome, and thank you for abiding by the law and ceasing your gaming while we announced our raffle prizes.

Our Bands, Blue Age, Black Velvet & Whiskey Jack – We hope it was a fun time for you. You all were fantastic and we thank you for your time and efforts. The show was all about you, and you knocked it out of the park, even in a blizzard! A few of you flew in (and man were your arms tired…couldn’t resist) and some drove quite a long distance. You really went the extra mile for us, and we can’t thank you enough. Please know that your efforts are going to make a difference in someone’s life.

The Tough Enough To Sing Karaoke singers – Everyone sounded great! I hope you had a good time doing it. Thanks for participating…

Jeff from Dreamer

Dave from Branded

Paula from the Fossils

Curt from Branded

Cory from Branded

Trish from Dreamer

Scott from Reckless Jefferson

Chris from Whiskey Jack

And Tiny from SloClap

Our Emcee – Tiny from SloClap – Dude, you did awesome!!! Thanks for putting your heart and soul into our event. You’ve helped in so many ways, ya got the gift of gab !!

Dave Etier – from Big City Music, our monitor guy and the man with the karaoke system!! Thanks Dave! You’ve done your part in all four years that we’ve done this event, helping the bands get set up and keeping them happy on stage. Your expertise is appreciated!!

KXMC – Thanks for having Kim on the Noon Show.  We sold some tickets because of that!

Reckless Jefferson – My boys are awesome! Kevin W, Kevin B, Troy & Scott, I know it’s kind of a pain with setting up, and you end up working many nights in a row for MBT, but your chick in the band really appreciates it!! There will be an extra shot of Ice Hole for y’all in the near future (uck, that doesn’t sound real good right now…)

Steve Earhart – WOW!!! We want him on our team forever! Steve and all the Static Fanatics really kicked butt! Who are the Static Fanatics? They are fans of Minot’s own Static Radio, and they have proven to be very generous too!! Thanks!!!

Dan & Tammy Kemmit – They are the initiators of the old cell phone drive, which is still taking place. Thanks for all that you do every year for us!!! Not to mention selling ALOT of raffle tickets the night of the event. I think Dan had a sore throat at the end of the night, lol! You both are awesome!!!

Jeff Benson – Although we haven’t seen your photos yet, thanks for coming and recording in photography the event for us. Last year’s photos were incredible, and I’ve not doubt these will be too. Your talent is greatly appreciated!

Speedway Restaurant – Well, you had a great idea, unfortunately the blizzard kind of put the brakes on your fund raising idea. Thank for trying anyway, we appreciated it!!

Personal Donators – We had some awesomely big donations from some equally awesome people, Marv & Connie Allard, Dean Polsfut, LeRoy Thompson, Lowell & Kay Haugeberg, and some anonymous donaters. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Business Donators – Cash and Prizes were all appreciated. Let’s give it up for… Global Auto, O’Day Equipment, Studio 360, Pure Images Photography, Olson & Burns, P.C., SuperPumper of Minot, Nola’s Lounge, Farmers Union, Velva, National Republic, Magic City Beverage,

Washoe High School – Jeff, singer/guitar player for Black Velvet has some awesome students at Washoe High School in Reno, Nevada. Yes, Reno!! Those students raised $300 for our cancer patients in our Minot area!! That is the ultimate in giving and caring! Students of Washoe High, YOU ROCK!!

Jeff Wales – Speaking of Jeff, thanks for coming all this way, not once, but TWICE!! OMG!

Cory Schmaltz – Thanks for the extra staging and for being there.  ‘Nuff said!!!

Roger Schmaltz & Greg Schmaltz – Brother gets you roped into all kinds of stuff, doesn’t he? Your help was much appreciated!

Wes Maas – Thanks Wes!! You’ve always been there for the event, couldn’t do it without ya!!

Minot Auditorium – curtains, curtains, curtains, thanks, thanks, thanks!

The Staff of Dae Udder Place – Thanks for doing such a great job of taking care of everybody, and thanks for the cash donations from your tips!!

Rick Lyon – Thanks for getting footage of the event!! I’m anxious to see it all!!

There will most likely be additions to this list. Although someone might escape my brain right now, please don’t feel like your part wasn’t important if I don’t have you properly thanked here. I do suffer from that memory problem that affects so many people over 40, lol.

So many times, I (unfairly) get all the kudos for this event, but as you can see from this list, it takes many, many people to accomplish what we do. Bruce, Lynda and myself are equally invested in our event, and equally thank each and every one of you.

Look for MBT mini events in the future…

MBT 2011 Complete!!

Wow, what a day! In spite of a freak blizzard that decided to pick our event day to blow, we had a successful event. We were completely humbled by the amount of people that braved the elements to come and watch some great entertainment and help out a great cause. Minot Bands and Fans are truly caring people. I know there were many people that just couldn’t make it into Minot because of roads or other weather related stuff. We’re sorry, you missed an awesome night. Those of you that did make it, we can’t thank you enough!!

Your Old Cell Phones are Needed!!

We can raise money for MBT and Minot’s Tough Enough To Wear Pink with your old cell phones. I bet you all have at least a couple phones collecting dust at your home or business. So let’s clean up!! Bring these old phones to our drop off points and we will turn them into money for MBT!!

Right now, the most convenient drop off point is at Dae Udder Place. We’ll have a pink plastic container in the doorway (labeled as such). Just drop them in the slot and then remember that we thank you for taking the time to help us out!

I hate to sound repetitious, but this money will help your friends and family who are dealing with cancer. We’re not sending the money to a huge corporate research facility, the money raised stays right here in Minot helping people we know. Cancer sucks! The treatment for cancer sucks! Let’s do what we can to help the quality of life of those that have to deal with cancer. That’s the bottom line here.

We thank you, thank you, thank you!!

[3-27-11] The check-in process last night at The Landing took longer than we anticipated. We’ve got all items highlighted, I  just have to add them up today and as soon as I know the winners, I’ll post that here.

We’ve got everyone’s items that they collected. If you had items that you want back (black jack chips, etc.),  I’ll be returning those to Dae Udder Place sometime on Monday.

More information and photos soon!!!!

Scavenger Hunt tomorrow

[3-25-11] –  We’re on the eve of the first annual MBT City-Wide Scavenger Hunt. We’ve accumulated an impressive 47 participating businesses and an interesting list of items to search for.

Remember, teams must report at Dae Udder Place at 6:30 for instructions and the list. The hunt starts at 7pm. Teams must bring their list and items to the Landing no later than 11:30 to be tallied. We will announce the two winning teams at midnight. First place gets 4 tickets to MBT & 4 tickets to Rockin on the Ridge, second place gets 4 tickets to the Bob & Tom Comedy show.

Also remember, by participating, you are helping raise money for MBT & Minot’s Tough Enough To Wear Pink program. You could be helping a friend or family member who gets the awful news that he or she has cancer. When they finish treatment, the Exercise Rehab Program will help get them feeling better. Raising money for this is very important. Thanks, and we’ll see you tomorrow!!
